Dealing with Lifelong Anxiety

anx·i·e·ty

/aNGˈzīədē/

noun

  1. a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

This is something that I dealt with my entire life and in numerous situations:

  • Personal: always feeling like I did something wrong
  • Work: wondering what moods people may be in according to the day or routine
  • Dating: worrying that I’m not doing enough to make the relationship work or I’m doing too much in the relationship itself

It happens to me all the time. I may start my days with my anxiety being at 2/10, then spikes to 5/10 at different parts of the day, then back to 2/10 when I am on my way home or working out at the gym.

How do I lower the level of anxiety throughout my work day?

Below are some of the things I do. Maybe these can help you as well.

  • Thinking positive thoughts
  • Taking the time to breathe (I use the breathe option on the mindfulness app on my Apple Watch for 2 minutes)
  • Have a list of assignments I need to do for the day
  • I read affirmations of the “I am” app on my phone
  • Text/message someone to help reduce the anxiety
  • Manifesting good things that will happen
  • Respond to coworkers with a soft and calm tone in my voice
